The actions to clear and disinfect the site are working and we have had two clear days with the exception of a couple of uncertain pigeons. However this is insufficient data on which to open the footpaths. The emergency closure of the footpaths has been extended by Staffordshire County Council for another 21 days, as was likely at the outset. It may be that this is insufficient and that further closure is necessary, but this seems significantly less probable than this first extension. The formal notices will be updated to reflect this and I would please ask people to not tamper with the signs, to respect this necessary step to allow the outbreak to pass, and diminish the risk of transmission.
